ALZHEIMER’S ASSOCIATION, GREATER MARYLAND CHAPTER
HONORED MAGNIFICENT MINDS AT MEMORY BALL 2006, APR. 22

BALTIMOREThe Alzheimer’s Association, Greater Maryland Chapter held its Annual Memory Ball, Saturday, Apr. 22, from 7 p.m. to midnight, at the Baltimore Marriott Waterfront Hotel (700 Aliceanna St.).

Recognizing “Magnificent Minds,” the black-tie gala featured a cocktail reception and dinner, live music by Gazze and the famous “What Money Can’t Buy” live auction.  Among the items up for bid will be a lunch and tour of the Ravens training facility hosted by Head Coach Brian Billick, jewelry from Radcliffe Jewelers, an ice skating lesson with Dorothy Hamill (who attended the Memory Ball), a VIP Spectator Package for 2 at the McDonald’s LPGA Championship, and a week’s stay for 10 people on the Mexican Riviera at a private estate featuring five master suites, infinity pools, private beach, and a full-time staff of four and gourmet chef.

John Schulze, vice president and owner of Pizza Hut of Maryland was honored for his commitment and dedication to the Alzheimer’s Association, Greater Maryland Chapter.  In a partnership for the past two years, Pizza Hut has financially supported the chapter and dramatically increased its visibility through radio and print ads, and in-store materials about the chapter.

For the second year in a row, Patricia J. Mitchell served as chairperson.  Last year, 450 people attended the Memory Ball, which raised a record $250,000.

Tickets were $250 per person or $2,500 for a table of 10.   Proceeds will benefit the Association’s many programs and services, as well as raise awareness of Alzheimer’s disease and related disorders  which now affect more than 85,000 Marylanders.  For more information, contact 410-561-9099 or www.alzgmd.org.

Headquartered in Timonium, the Alzheimer’s Association, Greater Maryland Chapter seeks to eliminate Alzheimer’s disease through the advancement of research and to enhance care and support for individuals, their families, and caregivers.
