Just past the newly refurbished authentic totem pole at the entrance of Bethany’s town square, you’ll find the shore’s best town for families. Anywhere you look around Bethany, you’ll find families riding bikes, taking walks together, or playing on one of the many community playgrounds. In Bethany, everyone waves “hello” when you drive by. Bethany’s laid-back atmosphere and calm, peaceful feel offers families and travelers a relaxing and peaceful alternative to the hustle and bustle of Ocean City and Rehoboth. It's a great place just to sit back and enjoy the beach.

Bethany Beach Bandstand
Newly renovated and located on the boardwalk at the center of town, Bethany Beach’s bandstand has shows beginning at 7:30pm. The performances are all family-oriented, with orchestras, bluegrass bands, and puppet shows. Sometimes there are dance lessons or talent shows. The town posts a schedule on the boardwalk and at the town hall on Garfield Parkway.

Along with most of the shops in Bethany Beach, Bethany Beach Books is located on Garfield Parkway, and is open daily 10am to 5pm with extended hours in summer. It’s is the perfect place to pick up some reading for the beach.

This store/boutique has a wonderful array of beach clothing as well as all the latest trends in beach wear for adults and children — from cool flip flops and ribbon belts to unique jewelry and accessories for the home and bath. At the back of the store there is a wonderful children’s toy section stocked with Thomas the Tank Engine merchandise as well as a train table with accessories.

Grotto Pizza

Grotto Pizza rocks! There are many locations throughout Delaware, but Bethany is lucky enough to have two and they are both always packed with people. Grotto is known for their crispy crust regular pizza as well as their delicious White Pizza. If you want good pizza, Grotto's the place to go. The menu also has salads, subs, and pasta. Grotto also has restaurants in Dewey and Rehoboth.

Their Corporate name is Kites, Tails & Toys and if they sound familiar, it’s because they operate stores in New Orleans, Louisiana, Bethany Beach, Delaware, and Lake George, New York. The store offers a unique shopping experience with products such as: kites, toys, seashells, plaques, home accessories, music, etc. It’s a lot of fun to browse, but be careful; it’s hard to leave this store without purchasing something.

Frog House

No need to rush out of bed, the Frog House serves breakfast until 2pm, and it's good. They serve 10 delicious kinds of pancakes, including chocolate chip, pecan, and apple, and lunch and dinner is delicious as well. This is a great place to bring the whole family.

For the most fantastic BBQ at the beach, try Bethany Blues — an upscale restaurant featuring baby back ribs, Jack Daniels wings, brisket, chicken, and hot Italian sausage. Try the homemade Birch Beer too!
