James Joyce Irish Pub
410-727-5107
On March 15, 1996 Jimmy and Carey Fagan opened Irelands Four Courts in Arlington, Virginia. Jimmy, originally from Mullingar, has numerous years of restaurant experience in both Ireland and Washington DC. The philosophy behind the Four Courts was to create a great local neighborhood bar, with the warmth and inviting atmosphere that he was accustomed to in Ireland. With the same philosophy in mind, Jimmy and Carey decided to open a new pub in Baltimore, Maryland. The James Joyce Irish Pub and Restaurant opened its doors for the first time on November 23rd, 2002, and has fast become a neighborhood hangout as well as a refuge for guests in several local hotels. The James Joyce Irish Pub and Restaurant is a brand new operation. Its name is derived from the Irish novelist, short-story writer and poet, James Joyce. Joyce is regarded as one of the greatest, most innovative literary talents of the twentieth century.
Georges on Mt Vernon Square
410-727-1314
Named for Massachusetts-born philanthropist and long-time Baltimore resident George Peabody (1795 - 1869), the Peabody Court began as a luxury apartment building in 1928, situated in the city's prominent Mt. Vernon neighborhood. Appropriately enough for a man who donated some $8 million dollars in his lifetime to support educational endeavors, Mt. Vernon is Baltimore's educational and cultural center. Chosen as the site for the first Virginia estate, Mt. Vernon comprises more than a century of historic architecture, mansions, and cobblestone and brick streets. The Peabody Court, with it's Renaissance Revival facade, is a testament to the style of the Twenties and the tenor of Mt. Vernon. A six-foot Baccarat chandelier and George Peabody's paneled library grace the well-appointed lobby. The renowned Walters Art Gallery, the Peabody Music Conservatory, the Enoch Pratt Free Library and Antique Row are just a short walk away.

Shawan Downs
410-666-3676
In the summer of 1997, the heirs to Shawan Farms decided to sell 300 acres of mostly inactive farmland near Hunt Valley in Baltimore County. Unsettled by the growing likelihood that eager homebuilders would transform the tranquil acreage into a cluttered, bustling development, a group of local citizens acquired the property under the aegis of the Land Preservation Trust (LPT). The property is now preserved and the intention is to maintain its agricultural legacy, allowing no new residential development. Building a New Tradition LPT, a nonprofit 501(c)(3) corporation, is now engaged in the second phase of the project - Shawan Downs - a first-class equestrian center and steeplechase course. The LPT has now conducted four major steeplechase race meets. The Legacy Chase has established itself as an annual event for many Marylanders. Shawan Downs will also feature horse shows and three-day events. In keeping with the center's preservation mission, no significant infrastructure will be required to accommodate the equestrian facilities.

Maryland Divorce Lawyers
|
Divorce is never easy – quite frankly it sucks. Sometimes it can be very hard to walk away from someone that isn’t right for you, even if you know it’s the best thing for you. However, sometimes it is not so hard to see that your life must go in a different direction in order for you both to be happy. Dividing up the life you’ve built together can take an emotional, physical, and psychological toll on not just yourself, but the people around you — your children, friends, extended family, etc.

Soon after opening, it was evident that the cannoli and rum cake had created a sensation among Baltimoreans. Today Nick Vaccaro, continues the family tradition begun by his father with the same old world recipes brought over from Italy. Vaccaro's has grown to include the new Pasticceria (pastry shop) which offers both carry out and a sit down café to enjoy, a state of the art production facility and warehouse, and five other locations throughout Baltimore and the surrounding areas. |
